We are mixing it up a little on the blog today and sharing a recipe where all the ingredients come from cans…yes, cans!
This month we are partnering with Austin Food Bloggers Alliance in celebrating Canned Food Month at the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. Our challenge this month was to share a recipe that uses canned food as the primary ingredients. And while our focus here on The Dig In is generally to use fresh ingredients from our backyards, canned food can be a great resource for a quick, nutritious and cost-effective meal.
This is one of my go-to recipes when I need something easy and I have a handful of mouths to feed. My roommate in college actually discovered this recipe and shared it with me and I have been making it ever since. In fact, it might be the recipe I have shared the most in the past 10 years.
It’s six cans. You dump them in. You heat them up. You serve. And you feel full and satisfied when you eat it. And bonus points…it’s delicious! There is a reason why I have shared this recipe so many times. Hope you enjoy this hearty and simple soup as much as I do!
