At a recent play date my fellow homeschooling mom of four and friend Kristi offered me an amazing treat. It was dark chocolatey, nutty and slightly sweet. Considering that it’s also sugar-free, gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free as well as raw, vegan, paleo and whole30 compatible – this is an exciting food-find.
“Can I have the recipe?” I asked. Kristi replied, “well – I kinda just throw stuff in.” She listed the ingredients and we discussed whether or not cocoa and cacao are actually the same thing. I later did some research and they’re different so make sure to get cacao, it’s raw and unrefined unlike cocoa.
Kristi offered to make another batch so that I could watch and sent me home with a few too. I was amazed at how fast these were to make. Even with interruptions from our children she had gathered supplies and finished rolling within ten minutes. I’ve done a couple of test batches and shared the results with friends who have both confirmed their yumminess and asked for the recipe. With permission, here it is…
