When it comes to jam, strawberry is a classic. So a couple months ago when my garden and the markets were bursting with strawberries I got to work making some delicious jam.
I’m super excited to share this video made in collaboration with my sister Breanna and her production company Temper. I love, love how it turned out and hope it gives you a little glimpse into my Sunday afternoon of making homemade strawberry jam.
I used this awesome and simple strawberry jam recipe from my Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving cookbook. I mixed it up a little and added a vanilla bean into the jam while it was simmering and the end product was a sweet and smooth treat. It pretty much tastes good on anything.
Don’t be alarmed by the amount of sugar that went into this recipe. Well, you can be alarmed but please note that it tastes amazing. There are definitely techniques and recipes that use less sugar (like Jenni’s recent post about making blackberry jam), but I went with the more traditional route for this particular jam. (Mainly because my honey grapefruit jam experiment from earlier this year was a huge flop, so I took the safe route.)
Hope you enjoy this sweet (literally) video by my awesome sister, Breanna Granzow, with assistance by Illyana Bocanegra. Also, be sure to check out Temper, their up-and-coming production company and give them some love on Facebook and Twitter.
