It has been quite a while, forgive me, much has changed.
I’ve missed spending time here documenting what’s going on in my backyard with the garden and chickens. I didn’t stop writing, I’ve been working on other projects, and I’ll be reading a piece live this Saturday, May 7th in the Listen To Your Mother show here in Austin, Texas. Tickets are still available and if you end up attending, please say hi!
One change has been our twins entering Kinder at Lafferty Academy. That’s our little one room school house where I teach my children at home around the kitchen table and in the backyard.
With three students, including my 3rd grader, needing individual attention for school, and a toddler exploring the idea of pooping in the potty, I wasn’t as consistent in photographing or documenting all the wonderful food we’ve grown in the garden here at The Dig In. If you’re interested to see what we have been up to you’re welcome to check out @jennillafferty on Instagram.
As for a change in the garden. I am thrilled to announce the addition of honey bees! It’s time to update my profile because it’s finally happened, “one day” has come and I am a beek! That’s short for beekeeper. There’ll be lots of new words, it’ll be fun.
I’m working on a few bee related posts to bring you up to speed, so stay tuned. Until then, here’s a visual timeline of what’s happened.
